How To Connect OnPremise NAV to PowerApps/PowerBI Content Packs

$

Having problems creating a connection to NAV on-premise in PowerApps and connecting to any of the NAV PowerBI content packs. Am getting authorization errors.

Does anyone know if the NAV instance/service have to be configured with the NavUserPassword authentication in order for this to work? Does the data gateway have to be installed (it is not but SSL is all set up, I think correctly). I have been trying this for days and ours is set to WIndows authentication. Outside the firewall, I can use the Get Data command to connect PowerBI to the NAV data, can also use the NAV Webclient and the Windows 10 client app and successfully connect to NAV data. However, if I try to create a Connection in PowerApps or use 1 of the NAV content packs in PowerBI, I get authentication issues.

Just read the post: https://dynamicsuser.net/nav/b/peik/posts/setting-up-powerbi-online-with-dynamics-nav-docx?tempkey=9b8c06ed-9be3-4716-8528-ff1ab28181be#

In it the author mentions that "The DynamicsNAV90_NUP service has been configured with the NavUserPassword authentication."

Could that be due to the NavUserPassword vs Windows authentication?

Migrating nav database to azure

Hi all,

We are currently using Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2015. The application and database server is on-premise.

We want to migrate the database server to Azure(so that its more stable and ease of management).

Can we just migrate the database server? without the application server? and change the credentials of the NAV instance?

Does it work that way?

One of my servers running NAV 2018 on Docker have started showing the navserver as UNHEALTHY. It is running, but it doesn't allow me to connect to it.

Does anyone know how to "fix" this issue? Or who can explain exactly what might have happened?

Hi,

We are in the process of Migrating from Dynamics 2009 to 2017. But we are stuck migrating from 2009 to 2013, we have managed to Transfer Data but during the "Delete Objects" we are receiving an error "You do not have permission to delete the 'PortalServices' CodeUnit. We have tried granting all permissions to the Nav Users in SQL Server but we are still experiencing the same issue.

I have attached screenshots with the errors

I have a question about the use of the DYnamics NAV mobile app.
I haev already running the WebClient in my NAV2018 machine, but when I'm trying to connect with the app, i get the "Cannot connect to the server error".
I have a certificate installed on the instance, with its thumbprint, that it is used to conenct the webClient with a URL like this:

xxx.xxx.xxx.x:8081/DynamicsNAV110

I am trying to connect the app to the same URL, but it doesn't work. What should be like the URL to connect the app? Should I creaet a new instance, or new site in the IIS of the server?

Thank you very much

But, I see in integration field mapping position 240, which refers to the price list name.

What should I do?

Adjust Cost - Item entries report 795

Hi,

The report Adjust Cost - Item Entries gives me a fatal error during the report runs.

A fatal error occurred. The connection to SQL server cannot be established or is no longer usable. This can be caused by one of the following reasons:

* The server has been shut down manually or because of an error.
* The SQL server connection settings are not correct
* A network failure has occurred.
* A hardware failure has occurred on the server or on your computer.

Try again later or contact your system administrator.

This error message shows up for one company and not in other companies in same database.

I looked on internet to find an answer for this topic but couldn't find it.

Does anyone has an experience in this error?

It happens in Dynamics NAV version 7.1.3 build 7.10.45478

Business Central and Docker: Cannot start CSide: MSVCP120.dll is missing

I had a problem where I couldn't compile WordLayout report while the C/Side was running on my Docker machine.

So trying to resolve that problem, I went and setup a new HyperV VM running Windows Server 2016. Installed as a VM on my LAN. Here I installed Docker and everything else as before.

I downloaded the new image for Business Central 12.2312.0. While both the web client and windows clients starts and runs fine, then when starting C/Side then it fails with: finsql.exe - System Error: The program can't start because MSVCP120.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.

finsql.exe - System Error: The program can't start because MSVCP120.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.

The error as such is not unknown, it's because of a missing C++ runtime module. But even thought I have installed this, then the error remains.

I do not have C/Side installed on this VM in the old-fashioned way, but neither did I on the other Docker VM.

Anyone experiencing this? I know you've played a bit with the containers too.

Problem with importing Company backup trough powershell

$

So this is my situation - I have two databases - Originall database (Lets call it Database A) and temp database (we will call it Temp). Temp is Demo database (9-0) that came with NAV 2016 installation. These two databases are same build.

So what I did.

1.) Export all objects from A

2.) Export one company from A (this is new company with only setup, no other data)

3.) Imported objects from A to Temp and compiled them

4.) Import company from A to Temp with powershell (Import-NAVData).

After this i get error that I don't have enough space. So I tried to investigate, ant in my sql server databse limit is 10GB, and I have set the autogrowth setting to 300MB, unlimited.

So I don't get it why a company backup file that is 600MB large, cause database to grow beyond 10GB ?? Is there any normal explanation ??

Data Exchange Framework - Payment export

I managed to setup NAV 2018 to import our banks CSV statement files via a Data Exchange Definition. I am now trying to do the same and create a Data Exchange Definition of type Payment Export. This however is proving much more difficult than the bank statement import.

I've narrowed down the minimum Codeunit entries that need to be selected to the following:

  • Mapping Codeunit
  • Reading/Writing Codeunit
  • Ext. Data Handling Codeunit

Can I choose these codeunits from excisting ones that are part of NAV 2018 or is this custom code that needs to be written?

I am using NAV 2018 W1.

TaskScheduler does not run a scheduled Job Queue Entry

$

Hi All,

Really stuck with this so hoping someone has a solution.

Problem: The TaskScheduler does not run a scheduled Job Queue Entry with a 'User ID' other than the Service Domain Account. It changes the Job Queue Entry 'Scheduled' column to 'No'(in Red) from 'Yes' and does not create a Job Queue Log Entry. You have to view the Event Viewer log to see the cause of the error (Event Viewer -> Applications and Service Logs' -> Microsoft -> DynamicsNAV -> Common -> Admin).

Error Detail:
Server instance: NAVServices
Category: TaskScheduling
ClientSessionId: {00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}

Message <ii>(COMException): <ii>The specified directory service attribute or value does not exist.

System Information: NAV GB 2018.CU3 NAV Server is running with Domain Account We followed all steps to provision the domain account. (here) Windows Server 2012 R2 There are multiple domains on the network
Observations:
Logging into NAV as the Domain Service account user and resetting the Job Queue Entry will set the 'User ID' on the Job Queue entry as the logged in User. The TaskScheduler will run the scheduled job without failure thereafter. If you then log in as a user (domain) and reset, the job fails again. My best guesses here are: Issue lies with Domain Service account setup Issue lies with Domain Service account impersonating the 'User ID' on the job queue task. Issue lies in the Domain itself or perhaps having multiple domains Issue is a NAV service issue requiring a Cumulative Update, see this article. We were on NAV2017.GB.CU10 and had the same issue, so thought upgrading to NAV2018 might help.
